Latex - Fashion photo of the week: The good, the bad and the ugly latex

As a fabric fiend, obviously I have a latex fetish. It's soft, sleek and shiny. Like wearing a Slip 'n' Slide. It reflects light from your curves, and is the staple for some of the most sexy and interesting outfits I've ever seen. Think: Catwoman.
The only (pretty massive) catch: It's a trick to wear.

Even if you're not a latex-on-a-daily-basis kind of person, it is October, and the majority of women's Halloween costumes come in this material. If done wrong, latex can look like a cheap Leg Avenue outfit. If it doesn't fit snugly, it looks like a trash bag, and the light ends up reflecting all the wrong wrinkles and rolls.

This month, in honor of pushing the style boundaries for October, try to incorporate a little latex into your wardrobe. Maybe just a shiny belt or a patch on a jacket.
These photos from DSquared2 women's Spring/Summer 2010 fashion collection, presented in Milan, Italy, show the good, the bad and the ugly of (what could likely be) latex.
The good (at right): Imagine this orange dress without the ridiculous trucker hat. It's tight where it needs to be, yet feminine on the bottom.
Pair it with these (below) black strappy shoes and you've got my husband's dream woman.
The bad (below): This pink skirt looks cheap because it's shapeless. But obviously it logically matches a camping sweatshirt and ball cap. (I am not being sarcastic.)
The ugly (below): Ironically, this is the only outfit of the three that is practical (a plastic rain jacket), but the pink hems are too thick and don't make a good silhouette. Plus, if you're wearing a swim suit and it rains, why bother covering up? Maybe the model is just lacking a good trucker hat.
