В российский прокат выходит "Белая лента" Михаэля Ханеке, возможно, лучший фильм 2009 года. Его визуальное совершенство пугает почти так же, как и то, что виновный в экранных преступлениях так и не найден. Как считает корреспондент "Власти" Михаил Трофименков, "Лента" не первый образец жанра, у которого пока нет названия.

По части массового безумия ХХ век не хуже и не лучше любого века. Но в отличие от времен, когда Европу опустошала 30-летняя война, варвары жгли Рим, а европейцы истребляли африканцев, он разложил по полочкам анонимный ужас "восстания масс" (Хосе Ортега-и-Гассет), "тоталитаризма" (Ханна Арендт), "ада", которым являются "другие" (Жан-Поль Сартр) и "диалектики Просвещения" (Теодор Адорно), увенчавшейся Освенцимом.

Чем убедительнее философы объясняли логику кошмара, тем более иррациональным он казался. Извращение светлых утопий, подлая природа человека как такового и мелкого буржуа в частности, сексуальный травматизм — искусство перебрало гипотезы и отбросило все. Самые убедительные фильмы, раскрывающие смысл преступления,— именно о том, что смысла нет и не предвидится. Это триллеры без разгадки, ужасы без мистики, притчи о насилии, такие как "Избавление" (1972) Джона Бурмана и прочие "заводные апельсины".

Andy Warhol’s 1965 film Vinyl is the lesser-known adaptation of Anthony Burgess’s novel A Clockwork Orange. It lacks the aggression of Kubrick’s interpretation, which came out in 1971. Rather, it is a meditation on pure sensation, infused with raw, homoerotic, borderline pornographic images. These early, sexually fetishistic films fell out of circulation following the attempt made on his life in 1968 by Valerie Salonas, but Vinyl is proof of Warhol’s role as a pioneer in queer cinema.
The 66-minute film is comprised of one shot, commencing with an extreme close up of Victor (Gerard Malanga) as his face moves mechanically from side to side. The only sound is his breath as it grows heavier and heavier. Slowly, the shot pulls back to reveal his golden, cherubic curls as they glisten in the light. A cigarette lingers between his full lips, and he is encased within fragments of denim and glistening leather.

CineKink Film Festival in San Francisco this week, 11/19-11/21

The CineKink Film Festival opens in San Francisco tonight with screenings of Kinky and BDSM: It's Not What You Think at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, followed by Whips and Restraint, a program of short films including Gravuren DeSade, Butler, In The Closet, 20 Licks, Valley of the Dommes, Serving Madame Gina, and Kink, Inc.

There are two more programs of shorts on Friday:

Presented by CineKink, an organization dedicated to the recognition and encouragement of sex-positive and kink-friendly depictions in film and television, CineKink NYC is seeking films and videos, of any length and genre, that explore and celebrate the wide diversity of sexuality. We’re looking to blur some boundaries and will be considering offerings drawn from both Hollywood and beyond, with works ranging from documentary to drama, camp comedy to hot porn, mildly spicy to quite explicit — and everything in between.
Cutting across orientations, topics covered at CineKink have included — but are by no means limited to — BDSM, leather and fetish, swinging, non-monogamy and polyamory, roleplay and gender bending, sex work and sex geekery. Basically, as long as it involves consenting adults, just about anything celebrating sex as a right of self expression is fair game. (Far be it from us to define “kink” — if you think your work might make sense in this context, please send it along!)
Scheduled for its seventh annual appearance February 16-21, 2010, the specially-curated CineKink NYC will also feature a short film competition, audience choice awards, an adult industry showcase, presentations, parties and a gala kick-off, with a national screening tour to follow.
